Little toddle boy brushing his teeth

Toddler Time in Hackensack, NJ

A Warm, Nurturing Welcome

Are you thinking about your child’s first dental visit? Here at State Street Smiles, we start seeing patients as early as their first tooth comes in, typically around one year old. We understand that concerned, caring parents have many questions about their child’s oral health.

To help make it easier, Drs. Eddie and Dina Jackson have created a special visit and orientation called Toddler Time for children 24 months or younger. This visit is organized to introduce our youngest patients and their parents to our outstanding team and office located in Hackensack, NJ.

The Toddler Time Experience

Toddler Time begins in a welcoming group setting with a kid-friendly discussion about basic oral health and development. During this educational session, you’ll receive some general tips and guidelines to help keep your little one’s oral health on track.

Following the group meeting, each parent and child will be given the opportunity to meet with one of our stellar hygienists for a complimentary consultation. This is a great time to ask any additional and specific questions you might have about your child’s oral health.

Our staff is more than happy to explain our pediatric dental services and address any concerns or questions. It’s our goal to help both you and your child feel comfortable in our office and confident in the care we will provide.

Scheduling Your Child’s First Visit

Once you’ve attended Toddler Time, the next step is scheduling your child’s first dental visit to State Street Smiles. We recommend that children should start visiting the dentist once their first tooth appears or around their first birthday.

During their visit, we’ll educate your child on the importance of oral hygiene and teach you how to care for your little one’s smile. Our friendly team will make every effort to ensure your child’s first visit is as positive and comfortable as possible.

When should I bring my child to see the dentist?

Children should start seeing the dentist around the age of one or as soon as their first tooth erupts. The best time to schedule your child’s appointment is during morning hours. Earlier visits allow your child to feel well-rested and more compliant. Your child will be able to return to school or daycare, and you can go back to work if needed.

In the afternoon, your child is often tired and cranky, making their appointment more challenging for you, your child, and our staff. That’s why we ask that you take these factors into consideration when scheduling your child’s dental visit.

What if my child has dental anxiety?

We understand that many children are anxious or afraid of seeing the dentist. That’s why Drs. Eddie and Dina Jackson, and our team, use a friendly approach and gentle touch when treating your child. We’ll take the time to explain the purpose of each dental tool, technique, and treatment so they don’t feel confused or afraid.

Your child’s comfort and health is our utmost priority. We’ll do everything in our power to ensure your child has the best possible experience with us. Together, we’ll maintain your child’s teeth and gums for long-lasting, healthy smiles.
