Revitalizing Your Smile

When youā€™re not confident in your smile, you can feel ashamed and uncomfortable in social situations. At State Street Smiles, we can use orthodontic treatment to get your smile looking its best, so you can feel your best. Orthodontics is a dental specialty that deals with the alignment of the smile. Patients with overbites, underbites, crooked or overcrowded teeth, or jaw misalignment can have their smiles corrected with an effective orthodontic treatment.

Orthodontic treatments arenā€™t only for teensā€”adults can also benefit from a healthy long-lasting beautiful smile. Because dentistry has evolved considerably, if youā€™re looking for orthodontic treatment to straighten your smile, you no longer have to resort to wearing traditional braces for years before seeing results. Instead, we have alternative options to straighten your teeth in less time so you can enjoy your new smile sooner.

Reasons for Orthodontic Treatment

Patients may seek orthodontic treatment for a variety of reasons:

  • Malocclusion (a bite that doesnā€™t fit together well)
  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Teeth that are spaced too far apart
  • Jaw pain or pressure from crooked teeth
  • Improving and protecting overall oral wellness
  • A confident, straight smile

Most people associate having a straight smile with higher levels of confidence in social situations.

While that can be true, having misaligned teeth can also be detrimental to your oral wellness. Teeth that are out of alignment are much harder to clean which means your risk of developing tooth decay and gum disease is heightened.

Misaligned teeth also change the way your teeth fit together and cause excess wear on your teeth, gums, and jaw muscles. This can result in cracked teeth, headaches, and even temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD).

Braces

Fastbraces

With the help of modern technology, we can shorten the duration of braces treatment to about 120 days! Traditional braces use a two-step process of aligning tooth crowns during the first year of treatment and finally pulling the roots of the teeth into place during the second treatment year.

Fastbraces allow us to accomplish these movements simultaneously, in a much shorter period of time, and with less pain and discomfort than traditional braces.

Clear Braces

ClearCorrect

If youā€™re self-conscious at the thought of braces, you can straighten your smile discreetly with ClearCorrect aligners. The ClearCorrect treatment utilizes a series of customized clear aligner trays that work to pull your teeth into alignment.

Typically, ClearCorrect treatment only takes one year and the aligners are practically invisible to those around you. Best of all, youā€™ll begin to see results in about two to three months.

Candidacy for Orthodontic Treatments

At State Street Smiles, we want to ensure the success of your orthodontic treatment and most patients are great candidates for Fastbraces and ClearCorrect. Dr. Jackson may recommend additional steps in order to make the most out of your treatment if the following apply to you:

  • Have dental prosthetics or implants
  • Second molars have not yet erupted
  • Poor dental hygiene
  • Active periodontal disease
  • Severe bruxism
  • Missing multiple teeth

Depending on your unique situation, Dr. Jackson may recommend a number of supplemental procedures in order to make you a better candidate for orthodontic treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ClearCorrect painful?

You may experience mild discomfort with ClearCorrect when you swap out your aligners for a new set. Thatā€™s because the new aligners are shifting your teeth into a different position.

Most patients will be able to tolerate the treatment without complaint. If you experience discomfort, it can easily be treated with over-the-counter pain relievers such as Ibuprofen or a cold compress.

Will insurance cover orthodontic treatments?

Insurance typically covers a portion of the expenses. We recommend checking with your provider for the details of your coverage prior to your consultation.

We also offer flexible financing options so you donā€™t have to wait to get the smile you desire. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us by calling (201) 389-2183, and weā€™ll be happy to assist you.

Who are the best candidates for Fastbraces?

If you qualify for traditional braces, youā€™ll typically be eligible for Fastbraces. Most people make great candidates because Fastbraces can solve a variety of orthodontic problems including:

  • Gaps
  • Crooked bite
  • Crossbite
  • Underbite
  • Overbite
  • Open bite

While most people will qualify for Fastbraces, itā€™s best to schedule a consultation with Dr. Jackson to determine eligibility and start treatment right away. During the consultation, Dr. Jackson will examine your oral health and determine the best treatment plan based on your specific needs.

What are the advantages of Fastbraces over traditional braces?

Wearing braces used to mean that you were in it for the long haul. Traditional braces are typically worn for two to three years, while Fastbraces are usually worn for a mere three to 12 months.

Since the treatment time is faster, youā€™ll maintain better oral health and be less susceptible to tooth decay in comparison to traditional braces. Fastbraces are also more comfortable and affordable, making them a better solution to straightening your teeth.
