CareCredit

If you have fees that aren’t covered by insurance, you can finance the additional expenses with CareCredit. You can apply by calling (866) 893-7864, or on their website. Once you’re approved, you can use CareCredit like a credit card for your dental care. It can cover copays, deductibles, and costs not covered by insurance.

CareCredit is a short-term financing option that allows you to spread your payment out over the course of months rather than owing it all at once. Payment windows last anywhere from 6 to 24 months. Best of all, the amount you borrow may be interest-free as long as you pay it in full within the allotted amount of time. CareCredit can be used for any dental treatment, mental health, medical, and even veterinary expenses.

Does CareCredit hurt my credit?

Initially, you’ll see a small dip in your credit score that goes along with any credit check, but it should disappear after a year. CareCredit will actually improve your credit score in the long run, as long as you use it responsibly and pay for your treatment within the allotted time.

What can I use my CareCredit for?

CareCredit is accepted at over 200,000 locations nationwide. You can use it to pay for out-of-pocket healthcare expenses such as dentistry, cosmetic procedures, surgery, veterinary services, and many more.  For more information, check out the CareCredit website.

What credit score is required to be eligible for CareCredit?

CareCredit is more likely to approve people with a credit score of 623 or higher, however people with as low as 600 have been approved. To improve your chances, It helps to have low credit balances and fewer inquiries on your credit check. You’ll never know unless you apply.

Why doesn’t my insurance cover some procedures?

Dental insurance is typically set up with specific parameters and limitations. Unfortunately, there are very few dental insurance plans that offer comprehensive benefits and it’s likely that there will be some out-of-pocket expenses for most procedures.

We make our dental recommendations based on your health and the way we would want to be treated in your situation, not based on what insurance will cover. That being said, we’ll always do our best to maximize your insurance benefits so that your financial responsibility is minimized.

We’ll also be happy to estimate and review with you how we expect your insurance benefits to work in our office so that you have no surprises.

Do You Take My Insurance?

At State Street Smiles, we work with most insurance companies. Each insurance company has many different plans that your employer can choose from when they are deciding what benefits to offer. We have found that the best way to answer your question about your insurance plan is to do a complimentary benefits check prior to your visit. Once you give us all the necessary insurance information, we will call your insurance company and determine how your benefits will work in our practice. If there is anything unusual that you need to know, we will be sure to contact you prior to your first visit. With this in mind, please be sure to check and respond to any messages that we leave you prior to your appointment so that we can avoid any surprises in your benefits once you get here.

If your bonding does break or chip, please let us know. We can generally patch or repair bonding in one visit.

I don’t have dental insurance – what can I do?
