Old Patient with Doctor

Patient Comfort & Convenience

We want to ensure that all of our patients have a comfortable visit with us. Whether you are stopping in for a routine exam or undergoing treatment—patient comfort is a high priority for us. We also understand that visiting the dentist can be daunting and we try to make the process of booking and keeping your appointment as easy as possible.

01

We don’t want you to miss your appointment — that’s why we’ve automated appointment reminders. We’ll send you a quick reminder that your appointment is coming up. If you can’t make your appointment, please let us know ahead of time.

02

If you like a distraction while you’re in the chair, we have TVs conveniently located in every exam room. Just let us know what channel you’d like to watch and you can enjoy your favorite show while you’re at our office.

03

Every room in our office features a computer where we can easily access your information and log it in. Our office has gone completely paperless for ease of access and for the accuracy of your records.

Digital charting methods are consistent and enable us to keep track of your dental records efficiently so you can get the care you need. Information is less likely to get mixed up or lost when it’s stored in digital systems, so we can ensure you’re being treated properly.

04

Rather than sending your dental claim through snail mail, we can conveniently contact your insurer and send the claim digitally. This hastens the process while allowing us to submit claims with fewer errors.

Claims through our software are more consistent and easier to create, so we can make sure you’re getting all the benefits you deserve.

Doctor Is Looking at X-Ray

Advanced Diagnostics

When it comes to severe oral health issues, early intervention can make a significant difference in healing and recovery. This is why we use advanced diagnostic tools, so we can catch problems before they occur and be proactive in your treatment.

01

Digital X-rays make taking images of your teeth easier, quicker, and safer. Digital scans transmit much less radiation than film X-rays. The digital image is also much clearer and we can zoom in on any areas to identify potential issues.

With these enhanced X-rays, we can get an accurate picture of the condition of your oral health. This helps us identify issues before you even begin to notice them, so we can provide less invasive treatment options.

02

An intraoral camera is a small pen-shaped camera that we can use to visually examine your mouth in extreme detail. We’re able to see small areas of disease, cracks, chips, and worn fillings that we wouldn’t be able to see otherwise.

The images we take using this camera will be visible on a screen, so you’ll also be able to see them if you wish. That way, you can gain a better understanding of your oral health and any procedures we may suggest.

03

In addition to our other diagnostic tools, we also have a small machine called a DIAGNOdent. The DIAGNOdent features a portable laser that enables us to detect cavities more efficiently, especially on the chewing areas of the back teeth.

These hard-to-reach areas can develop cavities that may go unnoticed for longer due to their position. DIAGNOdent can easily change that — it’s easy to use and alerts us with an audible signal when it detects a cavity.

More Effective Treatments

State Street Smiles is proud to offer dental laser technology at our practice. Laser dentistry is a minimally invasive solution to a variety of dental health problems from cavities to tongue and lip tie correction. Lasers are extremely focused light beams that can be used to alter or remove tissues during our procedures. At our practice, we use the Solea® laser to provide fast, precise, and anesthesia-free treatment of both hard and soft tissue.

Frequently Asked Questions

01

There are two main types of dental X-rays:

Intraoral— Intraoral X-rays are the most common type of dental X-ray, taken inside the mouth. This X-ray shows the health of your teeth and their roots so your dentist can monitor your status.

Extraoral— Extraoral X-rays also show your teeth, but they’re more often used for the jaw and skull. They don’t provide as much intricate detail as intraoral X-rays, but they show the larger context of your teeth in your head.

02

We generally take X-rays once a year for most patients. This helps us to keep an eye on your teeth and make sure there aren’t any cavities or oral issues that are escaping our notice. Sometimes, these issues aren’t visible to the human eye and don’t hurt, but they can be seen on an X-ray.

We may take X-rays more often if you have a condition that necessitates it. We’ll let you know if you fall into this category.

03

No, dental X-rays aren’t harmful. While they do emit a small amount of radiation, this is so small that it won’t cause any side effects. Our new digital X-rays are even safer, so you won’t have to worry.

We do limit the number of X-rays we take for your safety. We usually take X-rays once a year to monitor your oral health, unless you have a condition that we need to keep a closer eye on.
